Internet Media Company Offering Turn-Key IP Services Closes $1.5M in Funding and $2M in Contracts

Washington, DC (August 16, 2006)— Internet media company and VoIP provider, Wyndstorm, announced today that it has raised $1.5 million in seed funding and closed $2 million in contract commitments. This funding, which closes its seed funding round, includes private investors and visionaries from industries including information technology, telecommunications, data communications and media.

“As many of us have known for some time, Wyndstorm's CEO, Marian Sabety, is an outstanding leader who is uncanny at seeing the big picture and driving immediate solutions to the critical issues that she finds in her way,” said Lawrence A. McLernon, McLernon, founder and CEO of LCI and Wyndstorm investor, an innovative long distance services provider, later sold to QWEST Communications Corp., now Wyndstorm's Chairman. “Marian's focus is on the convergence of VoIP with IP-based media using a platform that rapidly scales. I predict that this technology will transform the way work groups and communities will communicate, learn, and be entertained over the Internet. I strongly believe Wyndstorm is at the right place, at the right time, with the right team to leverage the convergence of internet telephony and internet marketing.

Other active Wyndstorm investors include:

  • Patrick A. Gross is the founder of American Management Systems, now part of CGI. Pat serves on the Board of Directors of Capital One, Hibernia National Bank, Computer Career Education Corporation, Mobius Management Systems, Inc. Liquidity Services, Inc., as well as the Aspen Institute.
  • John Hibbard, Telstra Global Wholesale's former Managing Director, was responsible for the international carrier business worldwide for Australia's largest telephone company.  John is on the Executive Board of the Pacific Telecommunications Council and was Chairman of the Australia Japan Cable.

“Wyndstorm represents real forward thinking, as it leverages the exploding VoIP market drivers with high value online collaboration applications.  I view this as a winning combination of technology, timing, and market interest, said Pat Gross.

“We are honored by the confidence placed in our team by these communications technology industry luminaries,” states Marian Sabety, CEO, Wyndstorm. “Our technology platform is second to none for creating scalable, turn-key VoIP services delivery platforms. Our clients can turn up and sell their own branded end-to-end VoIP services in as little as 10 working days.”
